Executive Committee

Overview

The Executive Committee consists of five Voting Members (the Chair, Vice Chair for Trials, Vice Chair for Sanctions, Vice Chair for First Years, and Vice Chair for Graduate Students), as well as seven non-voting members: two Senior Counselors, the Senior Investigator, the Senior Educator, the Senior Data Manager, the FYJC Chair, and the FYJC Vice Chair. The Executive Committee oversees all operations of the UJC and reviews all complaints as they are submitted.

Lauren Kim

UJC Chair

Lauren is a fourth year from Boston, Massachusetts. She is enrolled in the College and is double majoring in Global Security & Justice and Medieval Studies. Outside of the UJC, Lauren is involved with XA, is on staff in Brown College for Housing and Residence Life, researches manuscripts, and interns with an environmental fellowship.

Vice Chair for Trials

Jackson is a fourth year from Fort Worth, Texas. He is an Architecture major with minors in Historic Preservation, and Technology & the Environment. Outside of the UJC, Jackson is a lighting designer for theatre, film, and Lighting of the Lawn.

Vice Chair for Sanctions

Nabeel is a third year in the College from Roanoke, Virginia, studying Human Biology and minoring in the Batten School of Public Policy. Outside of UJC, he is involved in the Peer Health Educators and Students for Health Equity Advancement.

Peyton Hamlett

Vice Chair for First Years

Peyton is a third year from Richmond, Virginia, studying biochemistry in the College. Outside of the UJC, he is a resident advisor in Dillard for Housing and Residence Life and a member of the pre-med fraternity Phi Delta Epsilon.

Casey Schmidt

Vice Chair for Graduate Students

Casey is a first year law student originally from Seattle, Washington. He is a Double Hoo who graduated from UVa in 2018. Before returning to the University, Casey worked at a law firm in Washington, DC. Outside of UJC, he is involved with moot court and the Student Bar Association.

Senior Counselor

Stella is a fourth year from New York, New York, studying Public Policy & Leadership and History. Outside of UJC, she’s on the Virginia Policy Review, Hoos First Look, Hot Kids Comedy, and works as a barista in the Downtown Mall. She enjoys reading, watching baseball, and baking.

Jesse is a fourth year from Stephens City, Virginia. He is double majoring in Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law and Computer Science. Outside of the UJC, Jesse enjoys driving University busses for UTS, programming, reading, and board games.

Senior Investigator

Tommy is a third year from Falls Church, Virginia, double majoring in Economics and Political Philosophy, Policy, & Law. Outside of the UJC, he is a member of CatholicHoos, an executive member of the Moot Court debate team, and a counselor for the Community Honor Fund—a non-profit dedicated to helping the poorest members of the Charlottesville community.

Regan is a fourth year in the College from Green Bay, Wisconsin. She studies Russian and Eastern European Studies, and Foreign Affairs. Outside of UJC, she sings with the Flying Vs rockappella, and enjoys biking and playing guitar.

Slade is a fourth year from Dallas, Texas, studying biology and French in the College of Arts & Sciences. Outside of the UJC, Slade is involved with Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) and enjoys volunteer dog walking at the local SPCA.

Lisa is a first year from Oakland, California. She is a prospective Politics and Economics double major. Outside of the UJC, she is involved in UVa’s parliamentary debate team, Charlottesville Debate League, the Academic Affairs Agency, and a music nonprofit "QuaranTunes."

Alex is a first year from Malibu, California. He is planning on majoring in Political Philosophy, Policy, & Law with an undecided minor/double major in the College of Arts & Sciences. Outside of the UJC, Alex is involved with the Echols Council.
